DepressiStim
Frequently Asked Questions
we target key areas of the brain
FAQ
It is intended to stimulate release of klotho, endorphins, serotonin and norepinephrine to uplift mood and to aide in brain health recovery.
What is DepressiStim?
Mild bioelectric stimulation controlled protein expressions for improving mood and treating depression and anxiety.
How prevalent is depression?
Over 16 million people in the United States alone suffer of major depressive disorders which is identified as a leading cause of disability worldwide.
Why a new therapy for depression?
A significant portion of people living with major depression do not get any relief from existing treatments. 30 percent of those affected by depression have an intractable form of the condition deemed un-treatable by traditional methods.
Is this expected to work in all levels of depression?
Only properly controlled and statistically significant clinical trials that have not been conducted yet will answer that question but we believe from examining other similar studies that successful results will primarily be seen among those with moderate to severe depression with less of an effect or perhaps no effect on people with mild depression. We are working to design therapies that will also address mild depression and will report results of initial testing at a later date.
What is DepressiStim Plus Biologics?
Bioelectric stimulation plus repeat infusions of a mixed composition of biologics for treating severe depression. In early stages of development. Biologics mix may include any of stem cells, selected growth factors, selected alkaloids such as tetraharmine, exosomes, secretome from amniotic sourcing, stromal fraction from adipose tissue, micro RNA gel, nutrient hydrogel, oxygenated nanoparticles, Wharton’s jelly, bioelectric pre-treated PRF and matrix. Stem cells may include hypoxia treated and klotho expressing MSCs. Stimulation electrodes may include impregnated gel with therapeutic serums added.
Where is stimulation applied?
May be applied to any or all of the following target locations – (1) The orbitofrontal cortex of the brain. (2) The stomach gut microbiota. (3) Ear lobes connecting to the vagus nerve network. (4) The temples. (5) Selected electro-acupuncture points. (6) Over and through the kidneys. (7) Thigh muscles, (8) Back nerve and spine points.
How does Klotho factor into the DepressiStim treatment protocol?
Our bioelectric signals induce an increase of klotho release into the circulation. We also add Klotho expressing cells to our biologics mix. Klotho is an anti-aging protein that has been found to improve mood. People and animals with lower levels of klotho exhibit higher levels of depression. Many of the phenomena seen in Klotho-deficient mice occur in depressive illness, major depression and bipolar disorder represent illnesses potentially associated with Klotho dysregulation. Klotho has an effect on reducing chronic systemic inflammation which may be associated with depression and anxiety. Klotho has demonstrated an ability to improve symptoms of dementia which may be linked to depression.
